Deontay Wilder has reportedly agreed to seek advice from George Foreman ahead of his rematch with Tyson Fury this summer.

The Bronze Bomber suffered the first defeat of his career and lost his WBC heavyweight title as he was comprehensively beaten in seven rounds by Fury in Las Vegas last month.

Wilder struggled to land a glove on Fury, who was dominant for the entire fight before the Bronze Bomber’s trainer Mark Breland threw in the towel to stop the contest.

After the fight Foreman, a two-time world heavyweight champion and Olympic gold medalist, admitted he was keen to help Wilder and insisted he knew how to improve the 34-year-old.

‘I can take [Wilder] back with me to where I was, take him back to the boxer he ought to be. I know I can take him there,’ Foreman told The Athletic.

‘In those weeks, I can show him how to do it, and then it belongs to him.

‘He will be able to keep himself up from that point and no one will ever again be able to take his legs.’

According to Tha Boxing Voice’s host Nestor Gibbs, who claims to have messaged Wilder about Foreman’s proposal, the Bronze Bomber confirmed he is planning to meet with the former heavyweight champion.

Last week, Wilder confirmed he will keep his long-time trainer Breland on his team for the rematch against Fury, despite heavily criticising him for his decision to throw in the towel which put an end to the rematch.

Breland has been Wilder’s trainer throughout his entire professional career which began in 2008.

Foreman, meanwhile, ended his career in 1997 with a record of 76 wins and five losses, while his final fight came at the age of 48.
