Deontay Wilder backed the Nevada State Athletic Commission’s decision to stop his final face-off with Tyson Fury.

The NSAC announced on Thursday morning the heavyweights had been barred from conducting their face-off at the weigh-in after chaotic scenes at the press conference.

Wilder and Fury had to be separated by security and there was a heated stand-off between the two fighters which saw both men shove each other.

‘I don’t have no problem with it at all. I understand it,’ Wilder told Behind the Gloves in reaction to the news.

‘I’m an optimist. They looked at the first one at the press conference yesterday.

‘We were so cordial and nice to each other for the build-up. Now it’s the final countdown, I can see their point of view because of what happened yesterday.

‘They look at two giants, two kings mindsets and it’s going to take a lot of security to handle us.

‘Especially me, I’m the type of person that could go from zero to a hundred just like that.

‘When I want you I’m going to get you no matter how many people is around. I think this is a big deal and a lot is invested in this fight.

‘It’s going to be amazing fight and I look at it that they just don’t want nothing to jeopardise this fight. With that being said, I’m fine with that decision.’

While Wilder is happy with the decision, Fury’s promoter Frank Warren was annoyed to hear of the barring order.

Warren branded the call ‘stupid’ and bemoaned the loss of the traditional final face-off ahead of the biggest heavyweight fight of the decade.
