Demi Lovato fans mocked her ex fiancée Max Ehrich after he accused the singer of using their fleeting relationship for ‘clout’.

American soap actor Max, 29, made the complaints on Instagram in response to Demi’s fierce pic of her new shaved ‘do.

But fans quickly came to the chart-topper’s defence and seemed to find the petty posts hilarious.

He wrote: ‘Exploiting our breakup for clout at PCA is not chill.

‘Stop talking about me on awards shows. Thanks.’

Max was referring to a cheeky reference Demi made to their whirlwind seven-month romance at last Sunday’s People’s Choice awards.

In her monologue, host Demi joked: ‘I am so excited to be here tonight because honestly, this year has been the longest three years of my life. Don’t get me wrong, it started out amazing. I performed at the Grammys and sung the National Anthem at the Super Bowl. Thank you!

‘But then COVID hit and everything shut down, so I did what everyone else did, I went into lockdown mode and got engaged. I got into painting, photography, meditation, tested the limits of Postmates Unlimited.

‘I also didn’t know this could happen, but I reached the end of Instagram four times. I binged seven seasons of Pretty Little Liars, got unengaged, and then I went looking for aliens in the desert, so basically the same as everyone else.’

Apparently this was enough to send Max over the edge, despite the fact that he seems to have moved on, having recently been spotted smooching singer Mariah Angeliq on a Miami beach.

Demi’s lack of response suggests she’s sorry, not sorry, but that didn’t stop legions of fans from slamming the soap star anyway.

One wrote: ‘She can’t get clout from you man. Without Demi no one would have known who you were.’

More than one person accused Max of hypocrisy, including one fan who commented: ‘You [are] calling her names saying your [sic] trying to be the bigger person now but you do tyhis to her on her Instagram post.

‘Dude if you really cared or respected her you would have messaged her privately. Not on social media. That’s what real-grownups do.’

Their message was clear: move on, Max. Demi definitely has.
