Definitely Maybe turns 25: Liam and Noel Gallagher’s best insults

Oasis fans are celebrating the 25th anniversary of Definitely Maybethe rock-and-roll band’s debut album.

It was an immediate critical and commercial success upon release, and was become the fastest-selling UK debut in history at the time. It included the tracks “Rock ‘n’ Roll Star”, “Cigarettes and Alcohol”, “Shakermaker”, “Live Forever” and “Slide Away”.

Almost 15 years to the day since the record’s release, on 28 August 2009, Liam and Noel Gallagher had a fight backstage at Rock En Seine festival, with a statement from Noel appearing on the band’s website shortly after, announcing he had quit the band.

Since then the brothers’ relationship has been tempestuous to say the least, with insults hurled back and forth via interviews, live concerts and on social media over the years.
