Deepika Padukone FEUD: Why is xXx star rowing with this actress? ‘Stop throwing garbage’

Deepika Padukone and Anushka Sharma are two of the most bankable Bollywood actresses. The pair have appeared in huge movies, with Padukone even making the move to Western cinema in xXx: Return of Xander Cage. But under the surface, reports suggest there has been a bit of a bad atmosphere for some time.

Back in 2013, there were some reports that Anushka Sharma had allegedly lowered her fee for an endorsement deal, with some suggesting this was to ensure she won the deal over Padukone.

Sharma quickly refuted this claim, stating: “There is absolutely no catfight. People just try and drag you into issues.

“It’s not my problem that people try to pick actresses at random and create wars between them. I have nothing against anybody.”

While this seemed to put that issue to bed, further things started to come out in the press.

In an interview with an Indian tabloid in 2013, Sharma spoke further of the so-called “comparison” between herself and Padukone.

She said: “There is no comparison between Deepika and me. Nothing links us. We do different kind of films.

“In fact, she has done more films. I’ve been choosy. I have not picked up just about any role that came my way.”

Since then, Sharma has done a number of interviews, some of which have been interpreted as there being a feud behind the scenes.

According to India Today, Sharma said: “Since I had no plans of becoming an actor, I had no game plan in mind as well. I just did what I felt was right.

“Even after my first film, I didn’t become an overnight star like Ranbir [(Kapoor], Ranveer [Singh] or Deepika [Padukone].

“No one put me on the covers of magazines and called me the next big thing. No one said that ‘she is the one to look out for’”.

Subsequently, in 2016, Sharma was reported as telling Padukone to not “throw garbage at me,” sparking further reports of feuding between the pair.

“Stop throwing garbage at me since I don’t throw garbage at you.

“We call ourselves cool but we are actually not. I’m in a good position and nobody can take it away from me.”

Following this, Sharma had an appearance on TV show Koffee with Karan alongside star Katrina Kaif.

Asked whether she and Padukone were friends, after an appearance in which Padukone referred to Sharma as a “friend,” Sharma remained completely silent, which sparked further belief the pair were on bad terms.

Padukone, on seeing the episode, tweeted an image of the guests, adding: “These girls were on fire! What a fun episode”

Whether this was true or not is uncertain but in 2017, Padukone clarified her position in an interview.

She said: “I wouldn’t say it is a competition. But sometimes you have a certain feeling for other people and they don’t necessarily feel the same way about you.

“But that’s okay. I am extremely fond of Katrina and Anushka professionally and personally. I wish them all the best.”
