Declan Donnelly wife: ‘It’s the hardest’ Britain’s Got Talent host drops family ‘warning’

Declan Donnelly, 43, is a regular fixture on the ITV series of Britain’s Got Talent and last year excitedly welcomed the birth of his first child, daughter Isla, with his wife Ali Astall, 40. But the presenter has since revealed being a parent is “the hardest thing” he’s ever done but at the same time admitted he’s “loving it”. Speaking to the Evening Standard, the father-of-one spilled: “No one tells you how hard being a parent is! We could have had a warning! “It is literally the hardest thing I’ve ever done but I’m loving it.”

Dec tied the knot with his talent manager wife Ali back in 2015.

Two years later, the happy couple became parents to their daughter Isla and announced the news via a heartwarming Twitter post.

The couple shared the news of the birth with Dec uploading a sweet snap of Isla holding his finger to his joint Twitter account with Ant.

He captioned the post: “Ali and I are thrilled to announce the arrival of our baby girl, Isla Elizabeth Anne, who was born just after 9 o’clock this morning.”

”Mother and daughter both doing well, Dad is head over heels! D x.”

His co-star Ant was also overjoyed with the arrival as he tweeted: “Welcome to the world baby Isla Elizabeth Anne. Can’t wait for cuddles. I love you already!! Uncle Ant.”

Elsewhere, Dec recently spilled on his romance with Ali and admitted it was “strange” during the early stages of their relationship because they are work colleagues.

Speaking to the Daily Express, he spilled: “We always hung out.

“When she was single and I was single we’d go out for dinner on Valentine’s Day together.”

The pair eventually became romantically linked as he added: “It was a little strange because we’ve had a working relationship for so long.”

Meanwhile, the TV veteran, who has hosted Britain’s Got Talent since 2007, recently took to his Twitter account to praise a singing sensation.

In view of his 6.75 million followers, he took the opportunity to applaud Susan Boyle ahead of her appearance on the show last weekend.

He wrote: “It’s the 10th anniversary of @SusanBoyle’s first ever Britain’s Got Talent Audition.

“Her life changed forever that day, and we’re delighted to welcome her back to the #BGT stage this Saturday, 8pm, on @ITV & @weareSTV. #10YearsofSusanBoyle.”

Britain’s Got Talent airs tonight at 8.00 pm on ITV.
