Debbie Harry has recalled a drug-fuelled night in which David Bowie flashed himself to the Blondie singer.
Opening up in her soon-to-be released memoir, Debbie recounted touring with David and Iggy Pop.
Not holding back on the details, she described a night in which the men took cocaine before David exposed his penis all in the name of banter.
‘One time David and Iggy were looking for some blow. Their connection in New York had suddenly died and they were out,’ Debbie wrote in her book Face It, extracted by The Sunday Times.
‘A friend had given me a gram, but I had barely touched it. I didn’t care for coke too much — it made me jittery and wired and it affected my throat. So I went upstairs with my vast quantity of cocaine and they just sucked it right up in one swoop.
‘After they did the blow, David pulled out his c*ck — as if I were the official c*ck checker or something. Since I was in an all-male band, maybe they figured I really was the c*ck-check lady.’
She continued: ‘David’s size was notorious, and he loved to pull it out with both men and women. It was so funny, adorable and sexy.’
Later speaking to the publication about the moment, the Heart Of Glass singer said she assumed he was saying thank you for the free drugs: ‘It was very funny… I didn’t touch it. But I did think, well – very nice. I don’t know, it’s too bad you can’t ask him.’
She added: ‘I guess I was sort of flattered, you know? He’s one of the great men that I admire in the music world, clearly a genius.’
In her book, the singer has also opened up about a harrowing rape that saw her attacked at knife point in the apartment she shared with Blondie bandmate and former partner Chris Stein.
Describing the attacker as ‘looking similar to Jimi Hendrix’, she recalled the pair being targeted as they arrived home after a gig one night in New York.
In an extract previously published in The Sun, Debbie wrote: ‘He poked round searching for anything worth anything.
‘He piled up the guitars and Chris’s camera and then he untied my hands and told me to take off my pants.
‘He f***ed me. And then he said, “Go clean yourself”.’
‘The stolen guitars hurt me more,’ she added.
Now 74, the star reflects on the trials and tribulations of her hey day, where the band’s songs including Dreaming, Call Me and One Way Or Another became era-defining.
Debbie also wrote about her heroin misuse in the 80s and experimentation with bisexuality. Her claims that she was kidnapped by Ted Bundy in the 70s have since been contested, as he was not known to be near Manhattan at the time of the attack but she recalled the moment she feared she’d come across the serial killer.
The star has never been short of a story or two over the years, and tended to brush off the darker topics with a cutting sense of humour. Previously discussing living with stalkers and her history with drugs, she simply said they were just a ‘real drag’.
