Death in Paradise season 9, episode 3 promo: What will happen next?

Death in Paradise fans are eagerly awaiting the next episode of the crime-solving drama, which will see the team deal with a cycling-related murder. Ahead of it airing on BBC One on Thursday January 23, Express.co.uk has rounded up everything fans need to know about the upcoming episode from its trailer to the guest cast.

What will happen in Death in Paradise season 9, episode 2?

Hit crime series Death in Paradise is currently airing weekly on Thursday evenings on the BBC.

The third episode of the show will air on Thursday, January 23 at 9pm on the channel.

Ahead of its return, the BBC has released a short promo and synopsis for the show.

This reads: “Jack’s (played by Ardal O’Hanlon) romance with Anna (Nina Wadia) blossoms while he and the rest of the team investigate the mysterious death of a cyclist during a race.”

The short trailer which aired at the end of the second episode gave viewers a hint at what to expect.

This opened on a cycling race taking place on the island as one of the competitors addressed crowds.

They said: “The truth is we’ll never win if we don’t work harder.”

However, it seems the tensions of cycling get a bit too much as the trailer cuts to someone murdered in the race.

The new case seems sure to stump the Saint Marie police team as they work out who is responsible.

Viewers will remember how the pair went on a romantic date in episode two after Mooney came to terms with moving on from his late wife.

In episode three it seems like Anna may be preparing to head back to the UK from Saint Marie.

She said to him: “It’s not just the island, it’s you I’m going to miss as well.”

Then Mooney asked Anna if she wanted to change her plans and stay again on the island.

He said: “Just unmake them, we can spend a bit more time together.”

The BBC has not revealed yet which episode the beloved detective will be leaving the show in but it seems likely Anna could play a big part in this.

However, the O’Hanlon has dropped a hint about how it won’t be in the third episode in a recent interview with What’s On TV.

He said: “I can’t tell you very much about my exit storyline. I’m under strict instructions not to reveal anything.

“I can tell you I’ve filmed four episodes for the new series and there might be the odd flirtation for Jack.

“All the key plot ingredients are there against the fantastic backdrop of the island.”

Death in Paradise season 9, episode 2 will be released on BBC One on Thursday, January 23 at 9pm.
