What is Deadwater Fell about?
The four episode drama follows two families in the fictional town Kirkdarroch.
When a seemingly perfect and happy family is murdered by someone they knew and trusted, cracks appear on the surface of a supposedly idyllic community.
As they come to terms with a horrific crime, the series is both an exploration of the crime as well as a forensic dissection of relationship.
The show kicks off on January 10, 2020 at 9pm on Channel 4.
Who is in the Deadwater Fell cast?
David Tennant plays Tom Kendrick
The actor plays the local GP, who is one of the most trusted people in his town.
He is a married man and a doting father to their three daughters.
David is no stranger to gripping dramas having thrilled audiences in ITV’s Broadchurch.
He is also famous for playing Doctor Who, starring in Marvel’s Jessica Jones as well as Amazon Prime Video series Good Omens.
Anna Madeley stars as Kate Kendrick
Anna plays Tom’s wife Kate, who is a teacher at the local primary school.
Despite her death, the character appears throughout the series thanks to frequent flashbacks.
Viewers might recognise the actress from Sky Atlantic’s Patrick Melrose.
While she has also starred in Mr Selfridge, Utopia and an episode of The Crown.
Matthew McNulty plays Steve Campbell
The actor plays Police Sergeant Steve who isn’t quite used to investigating such violent crimes.
He is a big part of the community and a close friend to Tom and Kate, meaning the deaths leave him pretty shaken up.
Matthew has starred in over 30 TV shows including The Bay, Our Girl, Silent Witness and Cleaning Up.
He’s also appeared in many films, including a lead role playing Ste in the 2012 indie film Spike Island.
Cush Jumbo stars as Jess Milner
The actress plays Kate’s best friend and co-worker at the primary school, who is used to being the outsider from London.
Since meeting Steve six years before, the pair have made a happy home and are trying for children together.
You might recognise Cush from her roles in Vera, Doctor Who spin-off Touchwood and Jo Brand’s Getting On.
Meanwhile she’s featured on US shows The Good Wife, and the follow-up series, The Good Fight.
Maureen Beattie plays Carol Kendrick
The actress stars as Tom’s mother who is very close to the family and spends a lot of time with them
She can be quite critical of Kate’s parenting, which is a source of tension without the group.
Maureen has appeared in multiple TV shows such as Doctors, The Bill, Vera and Midsomer Murders.
Jamie Michie stars as Simon Wells
Jamie plays Simon, the primary school headteacher who works with Kate and Jess.
He is tasked with explaining the tragic deaths of the family to the schoolchildren Kate worked with.
The actor has made appearances in The IT Crowd, Game of Thrones, Shetland, Borderline, Back To Life.
Laurie Brett plays DC Gemma Darlington
Gemma is one of the two police detectives who have been called in to investigate the deaths.
TV lovers will know Laurie thanks to her iconic role as Jane Beale in Eastenders. Since she left the show in 2017, she’s gone on to star in Traces.
While she previously starred in Waterloo Road.
Gordon Brown stars as DCI Spencer Collins
Spencer is the other detective who has come in to help with investigations, as both he and Gemma assist Steve.
The actor has had parts in thriller, Only God Forgives, alongside Ryan Gosling and Jason Momoa’s TV show Frontier.
Lindy Whiteford plays Ruth McKenzie
The actress plays Kate’s mother, Ruth, who is understandably devastated by the death of her daughter.
Lindy has been in a number of TV shows such as The Bill, Shetland and Doctors.
While she recently starred in the factual drama, Official Secrets.
Ron Donachie stars as Callum McKenzie
Callum is the father of Kate, who is also completely broken up by the death of his daughter and grandchildren.
The actor is most famous for the role of Ser Rodrik Cassel in the first season.
