DAYS Of Our Lives WILL be renewed by NBC for a historic 56th season, it was reported on Thursday.
Fans will be overjoyed by the reports – which follow intense speculation about the future of the show.
There were fears the long-running daytime soap opera was destined to get the can after stars – including Jennifer Aniston’s dad John – were released from their contracts.
That came amid budget renegotiations between producers Corday Productions and Sony Pictures – which has distribution rights to the show.
But NBC has reportedly all but signed off on a renewal for its longest running entertainment show, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Despite the budget battle, production has not been halted as filming for the series is eight months ahead.
There is already enough footage to get to summer next year ahead of its end-of-season hiatus this month.
NBC’s last remaining soap opera began in 1965 and has featured multiple Hollywood heavy-hitters in its nearly 55 years on air.
Pamela Anderson, Jensen Ackles, Mila Kunis, Kathie Lee Gifford, and even Wheel Of Fortune host Pat Sajak have all made early career appearances or starred on the show.
One of the show’s biggest stars is Jennifer Aniston’s 86-year-old father, John Aniston, who has portrayed crime boss Victor Kiriakis on the sudser since 1985.
It is averaging about 2 million daily viewers this season – the smallest of the last four remaining daytime dramas from the networks.
The others are CBS’ The Young And The Restless, The Bold And The Beautiful and ABC’s General Hospital.
