Sony’s latest exclusive Days Gone has taken the top of the chart for its first week on shelves, replacing the previous zombie game at No.1, World War Z, which fell to No.10 with a 70 per cent decrease in sales.
If Days Gone debuted at the top, its physical sales were certainly not on a par with Sony exclusives’ usual performances. For instance, it shifted 38.8 per cent less copies than Horizon Zero Dawn did at launch back in 2017.
Between its long development and its lukewarm reception, it’s no surprise Days Gone’s performance has been a bit disappointing – and certainly not up to Sony’s standards. Though to be fair Sony has put the bar very high with its exclusive titles between Horizon Zero Dawn, God of War and Spider-Man.
Days Gone is still the biggest launch of the year so far though, surpassing the likes of the Division 2, Sekiro and Kingdom Hearts 3, which is impressive considering the fact it released on only one platform.
Meanwhile, Mortal Kombat 11 had to settle for No.2 for its first week in the charts, with sales down 43.6 per cent compared to the launch of the previous entry in the franchise, 2015’s Mortal Kombat X.
There were no other new entries in the charts.
