James Van Der Beek revealed his wife Kimberley has suffered a miscarriage with their sixth child at 17 weeks.

The Dawson’s Creek star shared the heartbreaking news in a lengthy Instagram message, just months after she went through another devastating loss.

Alongside a string of photos, the 43-year-old began: ‘After suffering a brutal, very public miscarriage last November, we were overjoyed to learn we were pregnant.

‘This time, we kept the news to ourselves. But last weekend, once again, 17 weeks in… the soul we’d been excited to welcome into the world had lessons for our family that did not include joining us in a living physical body.

‘We rushed @vanderkimberly to the hospital by ambulance for another harrowing night of blood transfusions.

‘And as I stood by, grateful for the good people who navigated the maze of regulations to save her life – but helpless to do much for the woman I loved other than massage her feet and try to keep her warm (with my #DWTS robe, ironically) – something kept running through my head, again and again, which I now feel compelled to share: We’ve got to take better care of each other.

‘The world is in pain right now. There’s denial, shock, numbness, anger – all the old patterns we cling to when deep trauma is unearthed. And there are no words to ease that pain… to make the process hurt less or to solve it quickly.

‘But the way out of it? Starts with an open, broken-hearted contemplation of this question: How can we take better care of each other?’

He ended the message by sharing support to those in a similar position, adding: ‘And to all the families who have gone through this… you are not alone.’

Fans flooded James’ post with messages of support for his family, with one commenting: ‘Sending you love and prayers. You are not alone.’

‘I’ll be thinking of and praying for you guys,’ another replied. ‘I’m so sorry that you have to go through this again. Lots of love and light being sent to you all.’

‘Thinking of you and your family,’ a follower simply penned.

While an Instagram user said: ‘Thank you for sharing. Sending love and prayers to your family.’

James and Kimberly married in 2010 and share Olivia, Joshua, Annabel Leah, Emilia and Gwendolyn.

Their heartache comes months after Kimberly sadly suffered another miscarriage in November, with James revealing their loss during his time on Dancing With The Stars.

‘My wife Kimberly and I went through every expecting parent’s worst nightmare,’ he said at the time.

‘We lost the baby. ‘The little soul that we had expected to welcome into our family took a shortcut to whatever lies beyond.

‘You never know why these things happen, that’s what I’ve been telling my kids. All you know is that it brings you closer together, it breaks you open, it opens up your heart, it deepens your appreciation.

‘It makes you more human.’

James previously opened up about Kimberly suffering three miscarriages earlier in their marriage, urging people to change the language around loss.

In an emotional post, uploaded in 2018, he added: ‘It will tear you open like nothing else. It’s painful and it’s heartbreaking on levels deeper than you may have ever experienced.

‘So don’t judge your grief, or try to rationalise your way around it. Let it flow in the waves in which it comes, and allow it it’s rightful space.

‘And then… once you’re able… try to recognise the beauty in how you put yourself back together differently than you were before.’
