Dawn O'Porter slammed for supporting Caroline Flack after assault arrest

Love Island star Caroline Flack‘s friend Dawn O’Porter has sent her support to the TV presenter after she was charged with assault by beating.

The 40-year-old star is due to appear in court just two days before Christmas after she was arrested and charged by cops following an alleged row with lover Lewis Burton at her home in North London.

Caroline was arrested on Thursday and after news broke, her friend Dawn took to Twitter to send her support.

She said: “Woken up to some really hard news about my friend Caroline Flack. Who I love very very much.

“I will wait until I know the facts before I make a judgement, and I urge you to do the same.

“This cancel culture doesn’t help anyone. You weren’t there. You don’t know. That’s it.”

After posting the statement, a number of followers hit out at her for defending her friend.

One fan wrote: “Wonder if you would be saying this if it was a male celebrity?”

Another said: “I mean I appreciate you supporting your friend but would you be saying this if it was a guy?”

Dawn O’Porter has been friends with Caroline Flack since 2010

Dawn, who is a writer, met Caroline in 2010 and the pair have been close ever since.

At the time, Caroline was hosting the ITV2 show I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here Now! – the precursor to Extra Camp.

She fronted the show for two years before becoming the face of the reality TV mega-hit Love Island.

Dawn’s support comes after Caroline was arrested and charged with beating following a 999 call to her £1million home just after 5am on Thursday morning.
