Davina McCall says relationship with ex-husband is 'miles better' after divorce

Television presenter Davina McCall says her relationship with ex-husband Matthew Robertson is “miles better”, two years after their difficult split.

The couple ended their 17-year marriage at the end of 2017 – and Davina says they have now reached a comfortable place where they can happily go out for lunch together, with their three children.

“The divorce was hard,” she says. “You always hear it takes two years from when you split up to when you start feeling better.”

Davina, 52, says it would be her “worst nightmare” if she and Matthew, an actor, could not both attend landmark occasions in their children’s lives.

“We both want to be the couple who can be invited to the wedding or graduation of our kids, and sit down and watch them do something amazing,” she tells New magazine.

“I think we’re both trying and I really appreciate that.”

Davina has started a podcast with new boyfriend, and best friend of 20 years hairdresser Michael Douglas, who she has been dating for a year. But the Masked Singer judge says she still wants to keep their relationship low key.

“Neither of us want to shove it down anybody’s else’s throat,” she says. “Firstly, it’s nauseating for our kids to listen to any of that stuff, and it’s a bit weird for our ex-partners, the parents of our children.

“It’s not right to wax lyrical about somebody else, and it’s all still relatively new.

“But we’re happy.”

Davina has been appearing in video chats with Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby on This Morning.
