DAVID Walliams is bringing Enid Blyton’s Malory Towers books to the small screen.
The 48-year-old BGT star’s company, King Bert Productions, will bring to life the adventures of the famous boarding school for girls for CBBC.
The 12 episode series is due to air at the end of this year, with filming split between the UK and Canada.
Last night a source said: “The lacrosse-playing adventurist of Darrell Rivers and co. will reinvigorate Malory Towers for a whole new generation.
“While the script will stay true to Enid’s books, the production is going to be lavish and David has been quite hands-on with the project.
“Although it’s made for kids, adults will enjoy it too – it’s perfect family viewing.”
Blyton’s books, published between 1946 and 1951, tell the story of life inside a fictional girls school in Cornwall.
Documents filed at Companies House last week show how Walliams, who has sold more than 25 million children’s books world-wide, has sought cover from a private bank over production costs.
