David James: Strictly star kisses pro Nadiya days before pair are filmed holding hands

Strictly Come Dancing 2019 star David James, 49, was seen kissing Nadiya Bychkova, 30, on the cheek after they appeared on spin-off show It Takes Two last Wednesday.

While kissing his dance partner, the former goalkeeper also placed his arm around the professional dancer’s back as they said their goodbyes in the street.

According to The Mirror, the BBC professional was also seen blowing a kiss to him as he walked behind her.

David is believed to be single, while Nadiya in a relationship with Matija Škarabot.

The pair’s cosy display came just days before they were pictured holding hands at the Pride Of Britain Awards last night.

The former dancing duo were filmed walking hand-in-hand as they strolled around London’s Grosvenor House together.

Ahead of this, David and Nadiya placed their arms around one another for pictures on the red carpet.

Despite their actions, the pair have continuously shut down romance rumours and have insisted they are simply good friends.

Speaking to The Sun at the event last night, he said: “No romance, no. That wasn’t part of the deal. But she’s a great teacher.”

The dancer also told Express.co.uk: “When you’re spending so many hours together, if you don’t become friends then it’ll be [awkward].”

Earlier this month, David James spoke of the “chemistry” between the pair as he praised his “good teacher”.

Speaking to Press Association when he was still a part of the show, he said: “Logically, and this applies to anyone I’m sure, when you’re spending so much time with each other the chemistry is important

“But obviously the goal for the two of us – Nadiya wants to win this competition as much as I do.

“We want to get better and better each week and be entertaining at the same time.

“I think the situation with Nadiya and myself… there’s a goal in this,” he continued.

The former contestant went on to say: “But we’re on Strictly Come Dancing, not Love Island or some other show where people get themselves together.

“I think the chemistry between the two of us is perfect because we know what we’re here for.

“We’re enjoying the process, even though being in the dance-off isn’t fun.”

David became the fourth contestant to be voted out of the show after losing the dance-off to Mike Bushell and his dance partner Katya Jones.

Strictly Come Dancing 2019 continues Saturday on BBC One.
