David de Gea insists Man Utd stars will 'fight to the death' for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

David de Gea has given his backing to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and claimed that the club’s players are ready to “fight to the death” for the Manchester United manager.

Despite impressing in his opening few months in charge at Old Trafford, Solskjaer has struggled since being appointed the club’s permanent manager at the end of the March.

A poor finish to last season saw the Red Devils miss out on Champions League football, and the club have picked up just eight points from their first six matches of the current campaign.

Although recent results – including last weekend’s 2-0 defeat at West Ham – have seen Solskjaer put under growing pressure, goalkeeper De Gea insists that he still has the support of his squad.

“[Solskjaer] is part of the family, he was here for many years as a player, he knows the club well and most importantly the whole team is behind him, we will fight to the death for him,” De Gea told DAZN (via Goal ) .

“That is key, he is a good coach and we will be with him until the end.”

Since joining United in 2011, De Gea has established himself as one of the best goalkeepers in world football.

Despite previous links to the likes of Real Madrid , De Gea signed a new deal with the Red Devils until 2023 earlier this month and said he is proud to represent the club.
