Inter Miami are keen to bring Luis Suarez to MLS, with his current Barcelona contract expiring next year, although the striker is in no rush to leave the Camp Nou.

The 33-year-old has proved a sensational signing for Barca since arriving from Liverpool in 2014, scoring 196 goals in 281 games across all competitions.

Even as he reaches veteran status, the Uruguayan has scored 19 goals this season, despite a serious knee injury.

Suarez is certainly nearing the final years of his playing career at the highest level, though, and with his contract at Barcelona coming to an end, Inter Miami are looking to pounce.

The MLS franchise, part-owned by David Beckham, are keen to bring in a player of his undisputed quality, but also to appeal to the Hispanic community in Miami, according to Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo.

A deal to take Suarez away from Barcelona will be tricky, though, with a year still left on his contract and the possibility that it will be extended by a further season.

If the forward plays in 60 per cent of Barca’s matches next season his contract will automatically be extended until 2022.

Suarez is reportedly keen to, not only remain at Barcelona until 2021, but trigger the contract extension and stay for the further year.

However, according to his Uruguay teammate, and Seattle Sounders player, Nico Lodeiro, Suarez is very keen to move to America at some point of his career.

‘I think you need to convince Barcelona. He wants to come to MLS,’ Lodeiro told MLSsoccer.com last year.

‘He is always asking me about the league. His dream was to play for Barcelona. He’s playing at a great level and he feels comfortable there.’

‘Sooner or later he’ll come to MLS. Well, hopefully. He likes the league. He’s always asking me things about it.

‘Hopefully he can also play for Seattle Sounders. It may be a more difficult task. I think it’s only a matter of time before he’s out here.’
