David Beckham has been raving about the benefits of exercise as headed out on a run, but it may not be possible for very long if the rules of the UK lockdown end up changing.

The former footballer, 44, shared a video of him running in country lanes near his home in the Cotswolds as he got his one form of daily exercise in.

He told his followers: ‘First day back doing a little bit… always nice to keep fit during a difficult time like this.

‘To keep doing something, it’s important for the body and mind for everything and everyone around you… so enjoy it.’

He added in the caption: I have been staying home like all of you trying to keep busy with my family.

‘We are so lucky in the UK to be able to leave our homes to exercise.

‘Running helps me keep my mind and body healthy at times like these. Legs will be sore tomorrow but feels good. #StaySafe #StayStrong #WorldHealthDay.’

However, his happiness may be short-lived as the government have said that there may be a ban on outdoor exercise if people keep flouting the rules of the coronavirus lockdown.

Currently people are only allowed to leave their houses for essential shopping for food or medications, medical visits, trips to and from work for key workers and one form of daily exercise.

Coronavirus UK lockdown: key points

The key points of Boris Johnson’s historic address are as follows:

During the recent hot weather over the weekend, people were still pushing the limits of the lockdown and heading to parks to sunbathe and have picnics.

Health secretary Matt Hancock warned: ‘If you don’t want us to have to take the step to ban exercise of all forms outside of your own home then you’ve got to follow the rules.’

Britain is currently in the midst of the coronavirus outbreak, with 854 people dying of the virus on Tuesday, taking the death toll for the UK over 6,000.

The social distancing measures have been put in place to prevent people from catching it and to help prevent the NHS being overloaded with critical cases all at the same time.
