David Attenborough admits he ‘can’t bear’ to think about the future as he doesn’t have long to live.

And honestly, our hearts aren’t ready for it.

During a discussion about climate change, the 92-year-old revealed he tries not to focus on the world his great-grandchildren will be living in.

Speaking to former UN climate chief Christiana Figueres, the Our Planet host confessed: ‘I don’t spend time thinking about that because I can’t bear it.

‘I’m just coming up to 93, and so I don’t have many more years around here. I find it difficult to think beyond that because the signs aren’t good.’

No, you’re crying.

David also took a second to praise the efforts of young activists, blasting those outraged at students striking over climate change, because that’s just the kind of man he is.

‘[Young people] understand the simple discoveries of science about our dependence upon the natural world,’ he continued. ‘My generation is no great example for understanding – we have done terrible things.

Describing the protests as ‘encouraging’, he added: ‘That is the one big reason I have for feeling we are making progress. If we were not making progress with young people, we are done.”

We are absolutely not worthy of David Attenborough.

However, one person who might not agree with this is Richard Madeley, who incurred the wrath of the entire nation – if not the world – when he appeared to diss Sir David.

During a presenting stint on Good Morning Britain, the 62-year-old host got into a debate with Dr Gail Bradbook about the climate change campaigns in London.

The co-founder of the Extinction Rebellion protest told him: ‘I have two boys, 10 and 13, and they won’t have enough food to eat in a few years’ time,

‘Sir David Attenborough said the collapse of this civilisation could happen soon.’

However, Richard was having none of it, and hit back: ‘He’s not a saint you know. He’s just a broadcaster.’

Oh no he didn’t…

Right on cue, legions of fans flocked to Twitter to fume at the ITV star’s comments, and he revealed the next day that even his sister had ‘beaten him up’ over his words.

It just goes to show that David Attenborough must be protected at all costs.
