Michael Sheen got into trouble with security at an ice rink when the Beckhams mistook him for a homeless person.

Sheen was picking up his daughter from the ice rink and his unkempt appearance made Victoria Beckham, who was there with husband David, suspicious.

Speaking on The Graham Norton Show, the actor explains: ‘I was in LA and went to pick her up from an ice skating lesson.

‘When I got there the Beckhams were there checking out the rink for lessons.

‘I was quite hirsute then and when Posh saw me she called security thinking I was a tramp trying to abduct my daughter!’

Sheen stars in supernatural Amazon Prime series Good Omens, based on Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett’s book, as an angel opposite David Tennant as a demon.

He revealed he was set to play the demon but decided the angel was a more fitting role.

In tonight’s episode he reveals: ‘When the series became a possibility Neil (Gaiman) assumed I would want to play the demon, but when I read a very early version of the script I thought, “I can’t do that, I’m not good enough. I’m better for the angel part, that suits me.”

‘We had a very awkward dinner and he finally asked how I would feel about playing the good character and David the demon. It was perfect.’

The Graham Norton Show airs tonight at 10.35pm on BBC One.
