Dave Grohl says he tells people he wants to quit Foo Fighters after every tour

“It’s kind of a running joke with everyone in my life,” he said. “After I’ve been on the road for a year and a half, I come home from tour and say, ‘I’m never doing that again. That’s it. That’s the last time. Never ever again. I’m going to take two years off.’

“And all my friends look at me and say, ‘Bulls***. There’s no way.’”

Grohl admitted that his friends are always right, however, and said that he usually feels the urge to return to the studio after just a short break.

“After a month and a half I’ve got a guitar in my lap and I’m writing songs and I call the guys and say, ‘Let’s make another record.’ Every time,” said the prolific artist.

Brian Johnson Meets Dave Grohl airs in the UK on Sky Arts from September 17.

Last month, Foo Fighters revealed they were cancelling their upcoming tour, which was in place to celebrate the rock band’s 25th anniversary.
