Dave Bautista rejects Fast & Furious franchise because he’d ‘rather do good films’

Dave Bautista clearly isn’t a fan of the Fast & Furious franchise as the actor says he’d rather ‘do good films’. Ouch, that one hurt.

The Guardians of the Galaxy actor wasn’t impressed when a fan suggested he would be a good fit for a Fast & Furious spin-off like the upcoming Hobbs & Shaw, which stars Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham.

With his starring roles in action blockbusters such as Guardians of the Galaxy and Avengers, it’s not such a far-fetched notion, right?

Well, it seems Dave, 50, couldn’t think of anything worse than joining the thrill seekers of the Fast & Furious franchise, much to our heartbreak.

The Hollywood star replied to the fan: ‘…..thank you for your consideration… #idratherdogoodfilms [sic].’

Hearts shattering everywhere.

One fan was ballsy enough to accuse Dave of being hypocritical, claiming that the sequel for Escape Plan wasn’t exactly Oscar-worthy.

Taking it on the chin, the actor replied: ‘Genius! Big Dave didn’t state that he’s never done a bad film. But I did them for particular reasons that helped build an “acting” career.

‘And I got to work with Sly so in your face with that! You’re dismissed!’

Seriously, that fan is a brave soul.

But yes, working with Sly Stallone is definitely a huge win.

It’s not the first time Dave has expressed his big hopes for his acting career.

The former WWE star echoed the sentiments in his tweet in an interview with Cinema Blend, saying: ‘I want good roles. I don’t care about Fast and Furious or Bumblebee. … That’s not the kind of stardom I want. … I want to be in Dune.

‘I want to work with Denis Villeneuve. I want to work with Sam Mendes and Jodie Foster.’

He added: ‘I want to work with Academy Award winners. I’m proud to be a character actor. I want that respect and credibility and education.’

Dave could be missing a beat though as the Fast & Furious franchise is one of Hollywood’s most lucrative blockbuster series – the seventh installment Furious 7 is currently the eighth highest-grossing film of all time after taking $1.5 billion (£1.1 billion) worldwide.
