Darren Till fight UK time as UFC star takes on Robert Whittaker

Darren Till headlines the last Fight Island card tonight when he takes on middleweight rival Robert Whittaker.

The Liverpool star moved up from welterweight following his defeat by Jorge Masvidal last year.

He opened his account at 185lb by beating Kelvin Gastelum and now takes on No.1 contender and former champion Whittaker.

Till has insisted victory must guarantee him a shot at the title which will be on the line in September when Israel Adesanya defends it against Paulo Costa.

But Till must first take on Whittaker who will himself be looking to return to the title picture.

Here is everything you need to know about tonight’s fight…

What time is the fight?

The first fight will start at 10pm UK time with the main card starting at the earlier-than-usual time of 1am. That means the main event will likely start at around 3.30am.

Latest news

Darren Till is ready to step in and fight middleweight champion Israel Adesanya if Paulo Costa pulls out of their title fight.

The rivals are due to clash in September in one of the most eagerly-awaited fights of the year.

But should Costa not make it – and Till beats Robert Whittaker tonight – the Brit would jump at the chance to win gold.

“Yeah for sure, if him and [Paulo] Costa don’t do it and him and Costa don’t fight,” he said.

“Which I don’t know if I can see it yet, I don’t know. I’ll step in, like after this fight, if all goes well and I win I’m going to have a week off and then jump straight back in and stay ready for September time.

“You know, something could happen. Even if the fight doesn’t go ahead in September and they decide to make a TUF and it’s me and him, then I am all for that.

“As I said, it’s another experience and another journey. It’s sort of another medal to everything I’ve already achieved and done in the sport.”
