Darren Criss jokes about Beyonce singing the song he wanted to perform during The Disney Family Singalong
Darren Criss gave a spirited performance of – I Wanna Be Like You – from The Jungle Book during ABC’s The Disney Family Singalong on Thursday.
It turns out the Glee alum had – When You Wish Upon A Star – as his first choice, but producers shot down his request because it was deemed ‘impossible’ to get the rights to the song.
In the end though, the tune wasn’t mission impossible for superstar Beyonce, who would up performing the Pinocchio classic for the special.

Criss, 33, took to Twitter on Friday and joked about losing out on singing his dream song.
‘Fun fact: asked if I could do When You Wish Upon A Star,’ he wrote.
‘They said that’s impossible to get cleared which was either the nicest way to tell me please don’t or it was actually true and its just nothing is impossible if Beyonce wants to do it.’

With little time to prepare, the actor/singer enlisted the help of his wife, Mia Swier.

‘I had to put it together in just a few hours, definitely wouldn’t have been able to pull it off without my incredible director of photography & camera operator @MiaVonGlitz.’
The ABC/Disney production also featured a bevy of celebrity guests, including Christina Aguilera, Michael Bublé, Kristin Chenoweth, Auliʻi Cravalho, Amber Riley, John Stamos, Ariana Grande, Demi Lovato, Alan Menken, Elle Fanning, Josh Groban, Tori Kelly, and a High School Musical reunion, among others.
