Darren Cox Promoted to President and Director of Millennial Esports

  • Millennial Esports has promoted CMO and European managing director Darren Cox to president and director.
  • Cox is the creator of the company’s World’s Fastest Gamer competition, and previously oversaw the GT Academy Gran Turismo competition for Nissan.
  • Founder Alex Igelman and former chairman Ron Spoehel have also resigned from the company’s board of directors.

Darren Cox, who had been Millennial Esports’ Database-Link-e1521645463907 chief marketing officer and European managing director since 2017, has been promoted to president of the company and to its board of directors.

Millennial Esports is the company behind World’s Fastest Gamer, a competition created in partnership with carmaker McLaren. The first season of World’s Fastest Gamer challenged some of the world’s top racing gamer drivers to compete against each other to earn a contract to become a McLaren simulator driver. A series based on the competition aired on ESPN in 2018.

Cox, the creator of World’s Fastest Gamer, joined Millennial Esports when it acquired his IDEAS + CARS company in 2017. He previously worked for Nissan’s Nismo motorsport division, where he oversaw the Gran Turismo GT Academy series, which helped transition some of the top sim-racers into professional drivers.

As part of today’s move, founder Alex Igelman and former chairman Ron Spoehel have resigned from Millennial Esports’ board of directors. The company also owns game developer Eden Games Database-Link-e1521645463907, maker of mobile racer Gear.Club, as well as streaming data and analytics platform, Stream Hatchet.
