Manchester United new boy Daniel James has drawn level with Alexis Sanchez on three league goals for the club following his sensational goal against Southampton.

The Welshman joined the club from Swansea City for a fee of £18million this summer and little was known about the 21-year-old.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has discarded the likes of Marouane Fellaini, Ander Herrera, Romelu Lukaku and Chris Smalling.

The Norwegian then sanctioned Alexis Sanchez’s departure to Inter Milan, preferring instead to rely on his young frontline.

The Chilean spent an unhappy 18 months at the Theatre of Dreams and managed just three league goals in 32 appearances for the Red Devils.

And, with his thunderous strike against Southampton today, James has remarkably already matched Sanchez’s record.

He’s done so in 28 fewer appearances and already has three goals in four for the club.

The Welshman only made his debut for Swansea in 2018 and was set to join Leeds United in January, before the move collapsed.

Sanchez’s move to Inter is a season-long loan spell and the Serie A giants do not have an obligation to buy the 30-year-old.
