Daniel Farke hints at Jurgen Klopp text message after Norwich do Liverpool big favour

Daniel Farke is expecting a message from Jurgen Klopp after Norwich extended Liverpool’s lead at the top of the Premier League table with a 1-1 draw with Leicester. Teemu Pukki scored his 16th goal of the season for both club and country to ensure his side earned a share of the spoils at the King Power Stadium.

Earlier in the day Liverpool extended their lead at the top of the table to 11 points with a 2-0 victory over basement side Watford.

Mohamed Salah scored once in each half to keep up the Reds’ unbeaten start to the season.

Second-placed Leicester had a chance to reduce the deficit when they hosted Norwich but they were only able to claw back one point, meaning Liverpool are 10 clear of the Foxes after 17 games.

And Farke is expecting his good friend and fellow German boss Klopp to get in touch.

“Perhaps Jurgen has already sent me a message, I will check my phone later,” Farke said.

“I am a bit disappointed as I had some chances I could have got in. We had to be more defensive in our tactics and set-up today and go from there but I think we could have had a few more goals today.

“I am happy to be back scoring again. We have been getting points lately but now we need to start winning games.”

Meanwhile, Rodgers played down Leicester’s hopes of catching runaway league leaders Liverpool.

“It’s not something we’ve spoken about, everyone else has,” the Northern Irishman said.

“These players have been brilliant, it says everything we have drawn a game and everyone is disappointed.

“We weren’t quite at our level but we managed to get back and get a point. We’ll press the rest button and get ready for a [Carabao Cup] quarter-final on Wednesday [at Everton].

“It was probably the right result, we didn’t start so well and our passing was slow.

“Norwich played well in the opening period. We needed to change it, it wasn’t quite working for us. We made the change [Demarai Gray for Kelechi Iheanacho] and we were better at 4-3-3. In the second half we were much better.”
