Dani Ceballos has informed Mikel Arteta he wants to cancel his loan deal at Arsenal, according to reports in Spain.

The midfielder has not played since November and has not been recalled to Arteta’s side since recovering from injury.

Ceballos is desperate for game time with the European Championships in the summer and AS claim he has asked Real Madrid to find him another club.

The Spain international has been disappointed with his playing time since Arteta took charge and is keen to finalise a loan switch to another side.

Madrid are prepared to terminate Ceballos’ loan, just as they did with Lunin and Jorge de Frutos and intend to do with Wolves’ Jesus Vallejo.

Ceballos joined Arsenal amid much fan fare last summer and made an excellent start to life under Unai Emery.

However, the 23-year-old’s early signs of promise quickly faded and an injury then forced Ceballos to miss eleven games.

Arteta has attempted to boost morale and work-rate at Arsenal since becoming their head coach and has so far not looked to Ceballos.

Ceballos has sat on the bench for Arsenal’s last two Premier League games and sparked rumours of an imminent exit following the 2-2 draw against Chelsea.

In a reply to an Instagram post from Hector Bellerin, Ceballos said he would miss the defender’s goals, leading Arsenal fans to speculate he was angling for a quick exit.

While Ceballos appears eager to leave, Arteta has asked Arsenal for reinforcements this month.

A busy summer has left Arsenal short on transfer funds and the club are focusing their efforts on securing loan deals.
