Arsenal’s hopes of securing a permanent deal for Dani Ceballos have been boosted as the midfielder will not return to Real Madrid next summer if Zinedine Zidane remains at the club, according to reports in Spain.

Ceballos joined the Gunners on a season-long loan from Madrid having failed to secure a regular role in the team during Zidane’s reign.

Arsenal have no option to buy Ceballos at the end of the season, meaning that they must negotiate a transfer fee with Madrid.

Ceballos has also indicated that his preference would be to succeed at Madrid and become a regular starter for the Spanish club.

However, AS report that Ceballos ‘will not return’ to Madrid if Zidane remains in charge.

The report claims that Ceballos’ poor relationship with Zidane is the reason why the midfielder would not look to return.

Last month, reports in Spain claimed that Madrid would want £30m for Arsenal to permanently sign Ceballos.

The Spanish midfielder is currently sidelined with a hamstring injury and was forced to miss Arsenal’s 2-0 defeat to Leicester City before the international break.
