Dancing On Ice’s H from Steps and Matt Evers have sworn off getting into a relationship – for fear of tarnishing their landmark LGBT moment on the series.

The couple left viewers, and judge John Barrowman, in tears as they made their debut two weeks ago as the first same sex couple to compete on TV in a celeb show.

Clearly bonding during their time together, H has admitted that he’s worried that they will sully the positive message they’ve created if they take it a step further.

Saying he was ‘keeping it professional’ with pro-partner Matt, H explained to The Sun: ‘If I snogged him or something happened it would completely devalue what I’m trying to achieve.

‘What we are doing is bigger than us and bigger than the show. It’s a message.’

Now H wants to push the boat out further and perform a love song with his co-star, creating another landmark moment for the gay pair who want to spread the message of acceptance.

‘Why shouldn’t we?,’ he said. ‘All of the other couples are doing one and it will be done tastefully and sensitively.

‘Like everyone else, it’s not like we’ll be snogging on the ice. That’s who I am, and that’s who Matt is so let’s portray a beautiful love story.’

The pair made it through to the next round this weekend after a performance of The Greatest Dancer’s The Other Side as part of movie week.

Their performance to High Hopes by Panic! At The Disco was seen by 4.5million people – and while most enjoyed the routine, 16 Ofcom complainers complained about it.

Speaking about it, Matt said that ‘it hurt’ that people would still care that much about a dance routine, and then declared: ‘I’d like to invite those 16 people to come and have a little chat with me and we’ll explain to you what we’re doing and why we’re doing it. And why it shouldn’t affect you.’

‘Everybody’s entitled to their opinion but don’t teach your children that opinion,’ he added.

‘Train them to be well-rounded human beings.’

Dancing On Ice continues Sunday at 6pm on ITV.
