Dancing On Ice viewers BLAST Gemma Collins for not skating during finale

Earlier in the week it was a will she/won’t she situation where Gemma Collins was concerned.

The TOWIE star was set to return for the Dancing On Ice grand finale to join all the ex-contestants for one last spin on the rink, but her ongoing tiff with judge Jason Gardiner had thrown this into doubt.

Yet Gemma adorned the sequins for one last time and indeed appeared on the show as promised on Sunday – but failed to actually skate.

Viewers were left enraged when Gemma and her pro partner Matt Evers appeared on the rink under a giant ‘GC’ sign, yet barely moved a muscle.

Stood on the spot, Gemma was seen giving a shimmy before getting onto her knees, rolling over, letting Matt skate over her head and… not doing much else.

‘Gemma Collins was doing more Rolling on Ice than #dancingonice!’ one person observed.

Another tweeted: ‘Love how Gemma did absolutely no skating there.’

A third posted: ‘Actually screaming at Gemma not skating at all and just rolling around on the ice. Sensational!’

A fourth remarked: ‘I love how even for 10 seconds coming back on the show, Gemma STILL didn’t skate.’

‘The finalists’ routines were devised by Torville and Dean. Gemma’s performance was choreographed by my nan when she popped out for a pint of milk on a snow day…’ someone else wrote.

Followed by: ‘Wtf!! Gemma barely set a blade on the ice!!’

Gemma revealed she had been struck down with a virus leaving her feeling ‘absolutely terrible’ ahead of her finale performance.

Taking to Instagram on Saturday, the TOWIE star, 38, shared a video to her Stories from rehearsals at the rink saying that ‘people are very sad’ the show is coming to an end.

She continued: ‘But I will be coming out centre stage one last time, hell to the yeah’.

The Essex native then switched her camera to front-facing and commented: ‘Guys excuse that I look so bad today, I’ve got that virus that’s going around.

‘I feel absolutely terrible, but I’m not letting down anyone that spent their £1.50 to vote for me.’

The video comes as Gemma insisted earlier this week that she wouldn’t return for the Dancing On Ice finale after being fat-shamed by show judge Jason Gardiner.

But the former Celebrity Big Brother contestant made a dramatic u-turn, revealing she will skate again as she won’t ‘back down to anybody’ after Jason issued a public apology for comparing Gemma to a refrigerator.

Gemma explained that she did tell ITV bosses that she wouldn’t be performing again after Jason’s latest comments, only to change her mind.

‘I did pull out and then I thought, to everyone that has supported me, for my own self esteem, I am not going to back down to anybody,’ she said.

‘I am going to walk back in on that show on Sunday night and I am going to skate like it’s the last day of my life.’

The return of Gemma and the other former celebrity contestants – who have one-by-one been knocked out of the competition week-after-wee – saw Ryan Sidebottom, Jane Danson, Melody Thornton, Brian McFadden, Mark Little, Richard Blackwood, Didi Conn and Saira Khan all return to the ice.

And at the end of the show, James Jordan won the show – taking home the trophy alongside pro partner Alexandra Schauman.

The former Strictly Come Dancing professional beat Wes Nelson and Vanessa Bauer after each pair had to dance the Bolero on Sunday evening, knocking out fellow finalist Saaro Aalto earlier in the evening.

Lifting the trophy, James – who was nursing a shoulder injury but insisted that it wasn’t mentioned – said: ‘I can’t believe it. Oh my Gosh. I couldn’t have given it any more.’

The star burst into tears, clearly shocked at his win, as Alexandra hugged him and his wife Ola applauded from the audience, also in tears.

The victory was notably exciting for James, having been a pro on Strictly from 2006-2013, yet never winning the show.

He was reminded of this on Sunday’s Dancing On Ice final by host Holly Willougby, at which he had replied ‘yeah thanks for that’ jokingly.

The ballroom star was under scrutiny weeks ago, when the ITV skating show first returned to screens, with fans suggesting he had an unfair advantage thanks to his dance training.

But the judges on the show have been insistent throughout the show that ballroom training does not equate a natural skater, reiterating that his win was well-deserved.
