American skater Alex Murphy, who was paired with Brian McFadden last year, will dance with Joe in her place.

It comes after Caprice Bourret dramatically swapped her dance partner on the show, dumping Hamish Gaman and replacing him with Oscar Peter.

The shock switch came after sources said the partnership between the 48-year-old and the 36-year-old pro had grown “toxic”.

Last night, Alex posted a picture of her and Joe together smiling, saying she had missed training with him.

She explained: “I’m absolutely heartbroken to have to announce that I’m not able to perform with @realjoeswashy this Sunday due to a injury that I endured after a freak fall.

“I have missed skating with him terribly this week, he always puts such a big smile on my face.

“I wish him and @almurph18 who is stepping in all the best this upcoming Sunday, I will be there rooting for you and cheering you and everyone else on 👏👏👏.
