Dancing on Ice professional Dan Whiston has revealed that Paralympian Libby Clegg uses Morse Code when learning new routines with her partner Mark Hanretty for the ITV show.

Libby is registered blind and has a deteriorating eye condition called Stargardt’s Macular Dystrophy.

She only has a slight peripheral vision in her left eye and is usually accompanied by her guide dog, Hatti.

Although throughout the competition this has not stopped her as she has continued to wow the celeb judges and viewers at home with her stunning routines.

Speaking about how Libby learns new routines every week, Dan explained: ‘I think that Libby is definitely one to watch.

Obviously she is blind and she is performing as well as she does, she is unbelievable.’

He continued: ‘Luckily she has an amazing partner, and between them, they have a special language, he numbers certain positions so she will identify a position with a number.

He will just go ‘two’ and she will hit the position, so it’s like a Morse Code between the two of them that works on ice and I think that is absolutely fascinating.’

And as the final is drawing closer and with only five couples left, Dan also believes that Joe Swash could take the crown and win the competition beating firm favourite Perri Kiely.

The 24-year-old dancer has been top of the leaderboard each week and from the beginning of the series he has wowed the judges with his stunts and skills but skating professional Dan believes Joe could actually beat him in the final.

‘Everyone is pushing the boundaries, especially Joe,’ he continued.

‘He can feel himself creeping up the leader board and he wants to stay there if not go higher.’

He continued: ‘Perri is looking absolutely amazing, Perri and Vanessa, he is so brilliant and every week they bring something new, and they are lifting the bar every week but I don’t think it’s cut and dry yet.

‘It could be someone that does come through and who knows it might be Joe Swash.’

Dancing on Ice airs on Sunday at 6pm on ITV.
