Dana White provides update on Floyd Mayweather future after comeback confirmation

UFC president Dana White has confirmed that he and Floyd Mayweather will attempt to work together in 2020 and said the wheels will be in motion by Autumn.

Mayweather retired in 2017 with an undefeated record in 50 fights, but he recently posted a picture of himself on Instagram along with the caption “Coming out of retirement in 2020.”

He then added: “Dana White and I working together again to bring the world another spectacular event in 2020,” with a picture of the pair together watching a basketball game.

And speaking recently, White confirmed the partnership was definitely going ahead.

“Floyd and I both believe that we add a lot of value to each other,” White said. “We’ll see how things start to play out, probably by the fall of 2020, and we’re probably going to do some business together.”

It is not yet clear exactly what they have planned, but a rematch of the bout dubbed ‘Fight of the Century’ against Manny Pacquiao is one of the options thought to be on the table.

A clash with mixed martial artist Jorge Masvidal is another possibility, but it may be a while until we know, with crunch talks set for March.

Speaking on the Jim Rome show earlier this month White said “We sat at the Clippers game. We started talking and we literally got a deal done right there on the court.

“And if things play out the way things Floyd and I think they will, I will probably sit down with Al Haymond in March and get a deal on paper.

“If everything goes our way, Floyd and I would be doing something in October or November.”

Mayweather is often referred to as the best defensive boxer of all time, and is one of the richest sportspeople on the planet.
