Dan Walker: ‘Thank you for watching’ BBC Breakfast star addresses leaving show

Dan Walker, 42, has fronted BBC Breakfast with co-host Louise Minchin since 2016.

And it appears viewers will be watching Dan for a little while longer as the presenter said he has “no plans” to leave the show “anytime soon”.

The revelation came after Dan responded to a fan on Twitter who praised him and Louise.

The Twitter user said: “I really hope you are not leaving BBC you and Louise are amazing at the job ,my mornings were never be the same without team L.D.”

Dan replied: “No plans to leave anytime soon. Thank you so much for watching.”

Some of the star’s 562,000 Twitter followers were relieved with Dan’s answer as many replied to his statement,

One person said: “Good don’t know what I would do.”

Another added: “Don’t leave Dan, you & Louise so much better than him on the other side.”

His announcement comes after Dan spoke about his work relationship with Louise after a viewer claimed the pair appeared “awkward” with each other.

During one episode last week, one fan commented on the BBC presenters’ supposed body language.

The Twitter user wrote: “@BBCBreakfast I find the dynamics between @louiseminchin and @mrdanwalker very awkward.

“She seems cold and her body language is off towards him.”

Retweeting the post in view of his followers, Dan laughed off the idea that there was any “awkwardness” between him and Louise.

“You can ask Louise but I think you might be the WORST reader of body language EVER,” he quipped, adding a string of laughing emojis.

Fans were quick to comment on Dan’s reaction with one person saying: “How bizarre. You two have one of the nicest on

“Omg! You two have the BEST body language and are my fav presenters on BBC Breakfast,”(sic) another chipped in. “Never seen even an ounce of awkwardness.”

The Twitter user who initially pointed out the apparent “awkwardness” between the pair later spoke out about everyone else’s opinions.

They said: “OK so the general consensus is I have c**p observation skills. I’ll stick to posting pics of my cats and food.”

“I loved the responses, and as yet have yet to find one person that agreed with me!”(sic) they added. “I’ll stand corrected. Have a lovely day all.”

BBC Breakfast continues tomorrow on BBC One at 6am.
