Dan Walker: ‘Ridiculous’ BBC host gushes over Kelvin Fletcher after Strictly performance

Dan Walker, 43, was watching BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing on Saturday with the rest of the British public, eager to find out who will be advancing to next week. But it seemed one star’s performance in particular, caught his eye.

Taking to Twitter, Dan applauded all the contestant’s dances but found himself in awe at Emmerdale actor, Kelvin Fletcher and his professional partner, Oti Mabuse.

In view of his 591,000 followers, Dan tweeted: “That was RIDICULOUS from @kelvin_fletcher. Still no 10 from Craig but wowsers he and @OtiMabuseare so good.”

He was so impressed he also tweeted a clip of the actor’s performance in a separate tweet, which showed him and Oti dancing a particularly tricky Jive to Jailhouse Rock by Elvis, calling it “bonkers”.

And fans were quick to agree with his review.

Dan was also captivated by sports pundit, Alex Scott and her partner Neil Jones.

Fans were glad to see Neil back on his feet after he was forced to miss a couple of weeks due to a calf injury, leaving his celebrity partner to dance with already eliminated pro, Kevin Clifton.

In another tweet, Dan said: “Everyone has been great so far. They are all upping their game for #strictlyblackpool Don’t think I’ve ever seen @AlexScott so happy Must be the Beyoncé magic from @mr_NJones @bbcstrictly #StrictlyComeDancing2019 #StrictlyComeDancing.”

Alex and Neil performed the Paso Doble to Beyoncé’s inspirational song, Run the World (Girls), with fans saying how much she had “grown” in the competition and that she gave an “empowering” performance.

During his Strictly tweets, fans speculated the BBC host’s ballroom debut next year.

One exclaimed: “Your turn next year Mr Dan.”

“It could be you next year !” Another encouraged.

A third quizzed: “When you doing it @mrdanwalker?”

Maybe Kelvin’s moves will persuade Dan to pick up his dancing shoes and trade the BBC Breakfast studio for a dance hall next year!

Strictly Come Dancing continues on Saturday on BBC One.
