Dan Walker: BBC Breakfast newsreader responds after fan takes swipe at his co-stars

Dan Walker has responded to a fan, who appeared to snub his BBC Breakfast colleagues, Naga Munchetty and Charlie Stayt. But first the viewer complimented him and his co-host Louise Minchin, 50, on their partnership. On Twitter, they wrote: “I love the banter between you and Louise,” before taking a dig at Naga, 44, and Charlie, 56. “You’re both much ‘lighter’ than Naga and Charlie, who seem like an old married couple,” they added.

Concluding the commentator finished: “You’re great fun to watch.”

Responding to them in view of his 560,000 followers, Dan appeared to overlook the thinly veiled swipe.

The father-of-three replied: “Thanks Pauline. We really enjoy working together.”

Pauline then added: “And it shows! You’re great together. I enjoy Monday to Wednesday; not so much the rest of the week!”

She is not the only one who has named Dan and Louise as their favourite hosts over Naga and Charlie.

The duo are often inundated with messages from adoring fans, praising them on their incredible on-screen chemistry.

They recently celebrated three years co-hosting BBC Breakfast together, with Dan sharing the good news on his Instagram account last month.

Announcing their three year work anniversary to his 72,000 followers, he enthused: “Can’t believe it’s been three years since Louise Minchin and I teamed up on the BBC Breakfast sofa.”

His post garnered more than 2,000 likes and he was inundated with comments from dozens of fans.

One person wrote: “Best tele in the morning. I wouldn’t miss you guys for a heartbeat.”(sic)

“You make a great pair of presenters, the best on the BBC!” another exclaimed.

A third penned: “I love turning on BBB Breakfast and seeing that yourself and Louise are on. You have a lovely relationship and make the programme a pleasure to watch. You both report the news in a professional manner, whilst adding humour to the lighter aspects of the programme. It’s like listening to the conversation between two friends. Love it.”

Congratulating the pair, a fourth added: “Happy three years! Mum and i absolutely love you both on the sofa.”

Somebody else remarked: “I despised watching the news however you @mrdanwalker and Louise now make it watchable my tv flicks on at 6.45 and When I hear your voice i know I’ll be chuckling to something you’ve said before the dreaded school run kills me.”

Meanwhile, another contributor said: “Oh you both are a great presenting duo. I always like to see the news when you both are on.”

BBC Breakfast airs weekdays on BBC One at 6am.
