Dan Walker: BBC Breakfast news anchor catches pop star's attention with striking image

Dan Walker has given James Bond star Daniel Craig a run for his money by posing in a stylish tuxedo. The BBC Breakfast newsreader showcased his dapper look on Instagram before heading to the Sport Industry Awards last night. He looked handsome in the two-piece suit, which he paired with a crisp white shirt and completed with a bow tie. Taking a selfie in front of a fall length mirror, the 42-year-old journalist looked subdued, as he stood with one hand in his pocket.

Captioning the photography, he told his 72,500 followers: “Off to the Sports Industry Awards tonight to hand out one of the evening’s gongs and eat some grub.

“Will let you know how it goes. Tuxedo at the ready (it’s purple).”

His post garnered more than 4,700 likes in less than four hours and he was bombarded with compliments from some of his fans.

Also, a hand full of celebrities commented on the image, with Little Mix’s Jade Thirlwall leading the pack.

Referring to the classic film franchise James Bond, the 26-year-old songstress joked: “The name’s Walker… Dan Walker.”

Responding to The X Factor champion, the father-of-three quipped: “Get me a Ribena… in a pint glass… with a straw.”

Meanwhile, BBC Radio 1 DJ Chris Stark jested: “No pub quiz jumper in sight lad. I expect this for Watford for the final.”

“Looking well Daniel,” added Alan Shearer, a BBC Football analyst, meanwhile fans took to the newsreader’s thread.

One admirer penned: “Putting your name in the hat to be the next Bond,” as another said: “Wow, you look great Dan. Have fun.”

A third gushed: “Well hello! Very stylish,” while someone else shared: “Dapper Dan. Suits you Sir. Have a great night. “

When Dan arrived at the Sport Industry Awards he mingled with a few notable faces, including Gareth Southgate and Raheem Sterling.

The trio posed for a photo together after footballer Raheem, 24, was presented with the Integrity and Impact Award.

Of Raheem’s accomplishment, he said: “What a privilege to stand alongside Gareth Southgate and present Raheem with the Integrity and Impact Award at the #BTSIA. A sportsman with a very powerful voice.”

Raheem has urged football authorities to do more to tackle racism in sport following a string of alleged racist abuse towards black players.

Speaking to Sky Sports News, he said: “I wanted to say something it was purely just to get people on the outside to understand what it’s really like for some of these players.”

BBC Breakfast airs weekdays on BBC One at 6am.
