Damning stat that shows just how bad Man Utd have been this season

Just when Manchester United fans thought things couldn’t get any worse, someone has dug up a stat to complete their miserable weekend.

Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer ripped into his side after the stunning loss at Goodison Park – as Gary Neville called the display “rancid”.

The 4-0 loss was easily the club’s worst display this season.

Many were considering heading for home when Lucas Digne wrapped up the points ten minutes after half-time.

His strike was the 47th goal United have let in this season – more than any ever in the Premier League era.

The goal which broke the record was great for Everton

Of course Everton weren’t done there and Theo Walcott added a fourth as another hit the back of the United net.

The performance was so bad that the United boss said sorry on behind of his players as their top four hopes nose-dived on Merseyside.

“From the first whistle everything went wrong. I just want to apologise to the fans,” he told Sky Sports.

“They’re the only people with the badge on today who can hold their head high, because we can’t.”

Gary Neville unleashed a massive rant after the defeat, United’s sixth loss in their last eight matches.

“There is some Japanese knotweed at that football club and it’s attacking the foundations of the house and it needs dealing with properly.

But United players didn’t know where to look

“A few weeks ago I said that Jose Mourinho, the fans stuck with him but wanted him out in the end. They don’t want Ole Gunnar Solskjaer out, they’re not going to turn on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Those players are well and truly – their heads are on the line.

“I watched Manchester City yesterday who Manchester United are trying to get to in terms of the top of the Premier League and Liverpool.

“Manchester United players, honestly it’s embarrassing watching some of them out there on the pitch. I’m absolutely furious.

“I have full belief in Ole to do what he needs to do.

The display was “rancid” says Gary Neville

“The club will obviously support him but there is a big problem and that performance today I have to say was rancid.”

Neville went on: “I don’t need to name names, everyone knows who they are. They are in the newspapers every single day, they are on social media every single day.

“I am watching players out here who play for Liverpool and Man City and they’re working their absolute backsides off every single week for their football club. And I’m watching Man United players on that football pitch walking around, saunter round, jogging back.”
