  • Last week, ReKTGlobal unveiled its London Royal Ravens brand. The league’s other nine teams have yet to announce their franchise branding.

Over the weekend, Envy Gaming and Kroenke Sports & Entertainment (KSE) revealed their respective team brands for Activision Blizzard’s upcoming geolocated Call of Duty League.

Envy Gaming’s team will be known as the Dallas Empire, which according to the team is inspired in part by the official state song of Texas, “Texas, Our Texas.” The song features the lyrics, “O Empire wide and glorious, you stand supremely blest.”

The name also refers to Envy’s past success in competitive Call of Duty and the company’s “spirit of entrepreneurialism,” plus the crown logo features “N” and “V” elements. The organization also operates the Overwatch League’s Dallas Fuel franchise.

Meanwhile, KSE’s Call of Duty League team will be known as the Los Angeles Guerrillas, although the team has not yet detailed the inspiration behind the name. However, the hooded character logo suggests that the team will use the same purple, black, and white colors as the company’s Los Angeles Gladiators team in the Overwatch League. Another Los Angeles franchise spot in the Call of Duty League is owned by Immortals Gaming Club’s OpTic Gaming brand.

Last week, ReKTGlobal was the first organization in the league to reveal its branding, the London Royal Ravens. Nine more organizations have purchased franchised slots for the league, which will use a home-away model and kick off in early 2020, with more than $6M USD available in prizing for the debut season.
