There’s a unique kind of stress associated with getting your kids ready for school or nursery .
It’s a fraught, thankless task and you, the parent, are seldom the one in control.
Luckily it’s now the summer holidays – hurrah! – but here’s a reminder nonetheless of how of you can’t judge mums or dads too harshly when they drop the ball a little on the school run.
Take Aliza Friedlander’s husband, Brad, for example, who was recently in charge of doing the run on his own.
Aliza, from Maryland, US, who went back to work not so long ago, got a text later that day from a friend whose kids go to the same school as her own daughters.
She included a picture of three-year-old Brooklyn’s outfit, which included a pink top, sneakers and knickers. No trousers. No skirt or shorts. Knickers.
“Based on her smile and the fact she locked her door while getting dressed, I’m pretty sure she knew they weren’t shorts!!” Aliza added in an Instagram post.
She also shared the text conversation she had with her husband when she realised what he’d done.
His blunt reply read: “Ok…well don’t leave them in her drawer for her to pick out.”
Some of her followers felt this was a case of putting the blame on her, the mum.
Aliza then fired back, pointing out that the undies were in her underwear drawer – their rightful place.
Brad’s response? “So tell her that they are underwear.”
Sigh.
Still, Aliza saw the funny side, even when Brad defended himself saying, “At least she was wearing something.”
