Cyberpunk 2077 Xbox One X console to launch months before game

Cyberpunk 2077 is still on track for a September release, but fans can get their hands on a matching Xbox One X console in the summer.

Fans of CD Projekt Red’s upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 have expressed concern over the game potentially being delayed again due to the current coronavirus pandemic. But CD Projekt has assured that it won’t happen.

As if to demonstrate how confident it is about that claim, it has announced a collaboration with Microsoft: a custom-made Xbox One X console inspired by Cyberpunk 2077.

Not only that, but you won’t even have to wait till September to get it, as the console will be made available in June.

‘The limited-edition, 1TB console encapsulates the urban decay and vibrant tech of Night City,’ says CD Projekt, ‘Its design features glow-in-the-dark elements, custom decorative panels, LEDs, colour-shift effects, and textures — all evoking numerous facets of Cyberpunk 2077’s dark future setting.’

The console will also be bundled with a matching controller, with a design inspired by Johnny Silverhand, who will be portrayed by Keanu Reeves.

And if you’re perfectly happy with your current Xbox but fancy the controller, you’ll be pleased to know that it’s being sold separately at select retailers. This does include the Microsoft Store but, at the time of writing, it appears to be unavailable and could already be sold out.

Furthermore, the bundle will include a download code for a digital copy of the game, unsurprisingly, and CD Projekt have stated that it intends on announcing other surprises soon.

Cyberpunk 2077 will release for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC on 17 September, with a Stadia release to follow afterwards.
