Curve Digital to publish Denki’s Autonauts on PC later this year

Curve Digital is working with Scottish indie developer Denki to bring its “unique management sim Autonauts” to PC later this year. A game from former DMA Design creative director, Gary Penn, Autonauts has been in development since 2017, with over 300,000 downloads since it released in Early Access.

Autonauts offers players “the chance to explore the universe and colonise procedurally-generated planets, utilising the help of fully programmable AI helpers”, combining the “very best of agriculture, simulation, crafting, building, production-line and resource management titles to create a brand new experience unlike any other”.

Curve Digital also recently partnered with Endemol and FuturLab to create the first video game based on the award-winning TV series, Peaky Blinders. The game – which is expected to launch in 2020 on console and PC – will be a “narrative action game inspired by the critically acclaimed, epic gangster drama”. The press release says it will be “a highly innovative, story-driven design” enabling players to control “all of their favourite characters” from the Peaky Blinders universe, which will also feature locations from the series.

It’s unclear if show creator Steven Knight will be directly involved with the development of the game, but he said “Peaky Blinders […] will manifest in lots of different media in the coming years” and confirmed he was “really excited by all of these developments”.

Curve Digital’s parent company, Catalis, also recently acquired Runner Duck for an unspecified sum. The acquisition of the award-winning Brighton-based studio sees it join Curve Digital, Testronic and Kuju as part of Catalis’ “ambitious acquisitions strategy” that “restate[s] its pledge to become one of the UK’s most significant gaming companies”.
