HAVE you been out celebrating your new-found freedom? More than a quarter of us were planning to toast the end of restrictions with a glass of wine last night, according to a poll by food delivery company Foodhub.
That might mean you’re feeling a tad delicate today. If you over-indulged, try these cheap hangover cures. . .
A GOOD SPORT: When I have got a sore head, I reach for a bottle of Lucozade Sport. But be savvy to save on it. Avoid the kiosk bottles in a supermarket and go to the soft drinks aisle. A kiosk bottle is £1 in Asda, while a four-pack is £2.50 — just over 62p a bottle.
ISO-NEED THIS: For those on an even tighter budget, make your own isotonic sports drink with 100ml of concentrated orange squash, 400ml water, 4tsp sugar and a pinch of salt. Easy, cheap and if you’ve already got all that at home, you’re saving even more.
GET FIZZ-ICAL: Iced sparkling water is the way to go for many. You can get lots of own-brand versions starting at 40p, but you could also invest in your own fizzy water maker.
The SodaStream Spirit starter pack is currently £69.99, down from £99.99, at sodastream.co.uk.
I SHOULD COCO: Coconut water can be a lifesaver thanks to its hydrating properties. Sainsbury’s has a 1-litre carton of Innocent coconut water on offer for £2, instead of the usual £3.65. And it’s good to swig all day.
SMOOTH IT OVER: Soothe your hangover with a smoothie. Pret’s Berry Blast is around £3, but free with a monthly £20 Pret subscription.
And, of course, there’s Naked smoothies. The Naked rainbow smoothie is £2 at Asda, usually £3.60. But the real saving is to get them with a Tesco meal deal. Either £2.36 for the drink or pay £3 and get the drink, a sandwich and crisps.
CHILL OUT: Water is one of the best ways to get over a hangover. Keep yours ice-cold with an insulated bottle. Swap S’well or Chilly bottles, which cost around £20, for B&M’s £5 version.
