Crystal Palace make Wilfried Zaha demand to Man Utd over Aaron Wan-Bissaka transfer

Crystal Palace could use Manchester United’s interest in Aaron Wan-Bissaka to remove a sell-on clause from Wilfried Zaha’s transfer deal.

The Eagles re-signed Zaha permanently from United back in 2015, with the Red Devils demanding a percentage of any fee received in any future sale as part of the arrangement.

Zaha looks to be on the move this summer, after telling Palace he wants to leave the club.

It is thought that Palace could command up to £80 million for the Ivorian, but a significant chunk of that would go to United under the current conditions.

The Guardian report that Palace are now hopeful of removing the clause in Zaha’s contract as part of any deal that takes Wan-Bissaka to Old Trafford.

United have already seen a £40 million bid for Wan-Bissaka knocked back, but are confident of completing a move for the England under-21 international.

Palace are currently holding out for at least £50 million from United, and are now exploring the option of removing the Zaha clause, which would effectively boost that figure to closer to £60 million.

Wan-Bissaka has made it clear his desire to move to United, as Red Devils boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks to add the 21-year-old to his squad as part of a summer rebuild.

Solskjaer has already completed the signing of Welsh youngster Daniel James from Swansea, and Wan-Bissaka is their next primary target.

United are confident of getting a deal over the line, but may have to wait until the defender has returned from international duty at the under-21 European Championships.

Wan-Bissaka has impressed in the Palace back line this season, and has been a permanent fixture in the side, making 39 appearances in total.

Palace are already said to have lined up potential replacements for Wan-Bissaka, with boss Roy Hodgson keen on Atalanta’s Timothy Castagne.

The south-London club have reportedly already made contact with the Serie A club over a potential move for the Belgian.
