Cruise: Princess Cruises unveil luxury cruise heading for the USA

PRINCESS CRUISES have unveiled the sixth ship to join their fleet, offering luxury and adventure for travellers. Set to sail the West Coast of America, the stunning new liner will begin its journey in the Mediterranean. Embarking on its voyage from Rome, passengers will be welcomed aboard to experience a touch of pure luxury travel. The boat will depart for open waters as of November 2021, just in time for winter holidays.

The Discovery Princess is the cruise operator’s sixth and final member of their Royal-class Princess line. In its inaugural season, the liner is due to take in an impressive 50 destinations spanning 23 global hotspots.

The ship is due to welcome 3,660 passengers aboard for every journey, boasting a massive 143,700 gross tonnage.

Passengers will be given 30 opportunities to be some of the first to board the ship, with each journey covering one of 21 unique itineraries.

Kick-starting the season in the Mediterranean, sailings will range from seven to 21 nights, before the ship ventures on towards the Caribbean.

Customers who are hoping for an island experience can opt for one of four Caribbean sailings, departing from and returning to Fort Lauderdale.

Travel times range from four to 16-night options.

Alternatively, the Discovery Princess will also be travelling to the Mexican Riviera, sailing six itineraries along the South American coast. Adventurous travellers will have the option of a 50-night experience from Fort Lauderdale, boasting a variety of South American stop-offs, before ending in sunny Los Angeles.

The ship is set to incorporate ground-breaking technology to enhance the onboard experience.

Wearable technology, dubbed “Ocean Medallion”, does away with traditional key cards.

The device, which is no larger than a 10p piece, allows easier embarkation touchless cabin entry, speedier food and drink orders as well as a simplified onboard shopping system.

The ship also boasts improved environmental components, powered by cleaner Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG).

Princess Cruises unveiled their latest addition at an event in LA this past week.

The luxurious liner will be a sister ship to Royal, Regal and Majestic Princesses who currently make up the fleet.

Two additional Princesses – Sky and Enchanted Princess – are due to join the fleet in future.

According to the firm, the ship’s name drew inspiration from the vast number of destinations that lie before it.

Jon Swartz, President of Princess Cruises, said: “Discovery Princess will take our guests on the most memorable vacations of their lifetimes, introducing them to new sights, new cultures and new experiences onboard every voyage.”
