Pascal Ferre, France Football editor-in-chief, has revealed Ronaldo told him that his ‘only ambition’ is to win more Ballon d’Or awards than Messi.
He told Marca: “Ronaldo has only one ambition, and that is to retire with more Ballon d’Ors than Messi, and I know because he told me.”
But if Messi were to claim this year’s award, his tally would increase to seven, meaning Ronaldo would need three more to achieve that goal.
And now he’s 36, time isn’t on Ronaldo’s side, especially with the new generation of superstars taking centre stage across Europe.
