Ronaldo’s second coming at United begins tomorrow at Old Trafford against Newcastle, with the superstar desperate to make the starting line-up.

And the 36-year-old forward, who has signed a two-year contract with the option for a third year, hinted he could finish his illustrious career in the red of United.

“Of course I will be nervous on Saturday, but I’m more mature, more experienced,” said Ronaldo. “I will be prepared. I’m going to put pressure on Ole now, to be in the starting eleven! So I’m ready, I’m ready to go.

“I’m not here for a vacation. Before it was good, winning important things, and I wore the shirt many years ago, but I’m here to win again.

“People speak about my age but they should understand – and they know – that I’m different, I’m different to the rest of the people.

“I show off, all the time, year by year, and this year will be the same, I know it 100 percent.

“People think I’ve come back here from the heart, blah, blah, blah – but I’ve come to show I’m still capable, to smash it and do my best.

“I will do it good, with the boys, my team-mates, and the supporters will be on our side.

“The mentality of this club never changes. It’s always to win, to make history and I’m here to help the team to make history again and put Manchester United where they deserve to be.

“The new players, the young lads, I think they have huge potential. This is a new time, a new generation, and I’m here to help them win.

Reflecting on his enduring bond with United’s fans, Ronaldo added: “I know the people here, they are different.

“When I touched down at the airport on the first day back, I felt the emotion because the people here, they saw me grow up, from 18 years of age.

“They saw my passion and everything, so I feel very emotional and I have the desire and everything, and I feel good, with good energy.
