Cristiano Ronaldo has approved Juventus’ transfer move for Romelu Lukaku, according to reports.

Juventus have opened talks with Lukaku about a potential switch after Inter failed to meet Manchester United’s asking price for the forward.

United want £80million for Lukaku and are prepared to let the Belgian leave this summer if that figure is matched.

The Sun claim Juventus are ready to move for Lukaku after getting the green light from their talisman, Ronaldo.

The Portuguese has reportedly been heavily involved in transfer talks this summer as Juventus aim to win the Champions League next season.

Juventus and Ronaldo hope an overhaul of the squad will boost their Champions League hopes and have already signed Ajax superstar Matthijs de Ligt, as well as Aaron Ramsey and Adrien Rabiot.

Maurizio Sarri is now in charge at Juventus and would be familiar with Lukaku after a season with Chelsea last year.

Juventus’ opening offer for United is said to be a swap deal, which would include forwards Paulo Dybala and Mario Mandzukic and £10m.

United are thought to prefer straight cash for Lukaku, but the prospect of signing long-term target Dybala and a direct replacement in Mandzukic might tempt the Red Devils.

Lukaku is back in the UK after being left out of United’s squad that will take on Kristiansund on Tuesday, with Juventus representatives in London to hold further talks with the striker.
